Lomond's boarding house, Burnbrae opened in 2003 and offered the school the opportunity to design and build a facility that was fit for purpose and with the needs of residents in mind. It replaced two separate houses for girls and boys. The house was the first in Scotland to offer co-educational boarding with boys and girls on separate floors. This was designed in keeping with the ethos of famiy living and afforded siblings the opportunity to live in the same boarding house which is rare in the sector.
Boarders are mostly housed in twin ensuite rooms. The house is well maintained and in the Spring of 2012 a new computer suite was added specifically to enable Skype communication with parents. Boarders have access to their own astro turf pitches and to a small gym in the basement. The kitchen is, like many family homes, the hub of the house and allows boarders the possibility of preparing snacks and meals at the weekend.
All laundry is done on site by Lomond School staff and is managed by the Matrons. Individual attention is paid to the living requirements of all boarders by the pastoral care team of Houseparents and resident tutors. Burnbrae is a modern, safe, attractive and friendly environment to live and work in.
