A regular programme of planned educational trips of a residential nature is provided each year. These include firm favourites such as our modern language exchanges with partner schools, to cultural trips that complement the academic curriculum, such as the Normandy or Paris trips. Specific skills can be greatly enhanced by field work and the Geography and Biology Departments run annual fieldtrips to Yorkshire and Perthshire to help develop investigation skills. Departments will often work together for maximum curricular benefit and the History and German Departments work in this way on the Berlin trip. New trips are trialled periodically with the Eurospace trip now having earned an annual place due to its popularity and content. The Art Department benefits from seeing contemporary and classical work in visits to London. Outdoor trips such as the Ski Trip or mountain biking weekends are designed to introduce pupils to a new or challenging activity. Whilst the trips do vary year on year the intention remains the same and that is to inspire our pupils, build a sense of enjoyment in their learning and link theory with reality.
