Boarding School, Scotland - Lomond School

Hockey is the main girls' sport at Lomond School and is played throughout the winter and summer terms. The school fields up to 10 teams, regularly competing against other schools in the west of Scotland and further afield. The emphasis is on providing all girls in every year group with the opportunity to play competitive hockey on Saturday mornings and in mid-week fixtures. To this end most year groups have A and B teams; Mrs Taylor and her coaches are kept very busy with practices and matches.

Home matches are played on Lomond’s own astroturf floodlit pitch and also during the indoor season in the Lomond Sports Hall. The school competes in both West District and national competitions in both indoor and outdoor versions of the sport.

A number of Lomond players have gained district and national honours in recent seasons, with our most recent internationalist being the school’s 2009-10 captain, Nicola Skrastin.
