Netball

Netball is an established and very successful sport at Lomond.  Mrs Hart coaches all teams from T1 (P6) to S6.

Transitus One and Two train together and have the benefit of their own team manager, Mrs Cawley, who arranges all friendly and competitive matches as well as leading the organisation of the Lomond School Tournament.  Mrs Muggoch also helps with weekly Transitus training sessions.

Senior school pupils train weekly and gain competitive play via their efforts in the Scottish Schools Cup.  Last year four teams entered the competition, managing long and impressive runs with two teams reaching the quarter finals, one team reached the semi-final and the S1 team winning the cup for their section!  In addition to this, some girls were selected at district level and onto national pathways development.  Rebecca Edgar also went from strength to strength, adding to her international caps at various levels and was recently been voted U17 National Player of the Year!

Season 2014-15 sees Lomond's first official school netball captain being selected.  Rebecca Edgar's name will be the first to be displayed on our honours board.  It is fitting that the first netball internationalist leads the way and inspires our upcoming players.  The teams all look smart in the newly designed netball kit that identifies the sport for Lomond School.

The profile of Lomond Netball continues to expand with five senior players receiving half colours during the Winter Term Awards Ceremony. This term we look forward to our inter-house netball tournaments and in summer term we will be joining the programme of the former pupils sports weekend. If  there are any former Lomond pupils with skill, or indeed enthusiasm, in netball Mrs Hart would be grateful for you to get in touch!

This season will also see Lomond has had a successful start to the Scottish Cup campaign. Both Open teams exited the group stages with impressive results and have been awarded straight entry to the third round, of the Open Gold Cup by passing the second round games entirely! S2 were also very impressive and have been drawn against Woodmill in the second round of the Silver Cup. This tie will take place on Tuesday 20th of March at Lomond Sports Hall.
