The aim of the Business Education Department at Lomond is to provide a cheerful teaching environment in which the students can best experience the working of the business world. We aim to promote positive teaching through individual goal-setting and learning as well as teacher-led lessons aimed to stimulate the pupils' interest in this subject.
Courses in Business Management are offered from National 5 to Advanced Higher levels, and Economics is offered at Higher. Teaching practice is enhanced by the extensive use of iPad technology and a range of audio-visual resources for research purposes.
At Senior level, we run a Young Enterprise business scheme every year—a programme which the students find both stimulating and challenging. Students have performed very well in this scheme, winning the regional finals in both 2015 & 2016, and it is common for participants to receive distinctions in the Strathclyde University Enterprise exam attached to the programme. We also participate in a number of other extra-curricular competitions, including the BNP Global Investment Challenge and The Coca Cola Enterprise Challenge.
