The aim of the Business Education Department at Lomond is to provide a cheerful teaching environment in which the students can best experience the working of the business world. We aim to promote positive teaching through individual goal-setting and learning as well as teacher-led lessons aimed to stimulate the pupils' interest in this subject.
Courses in Business Management are offered at Intermediate 2 and Higher levels, and Economics is offered at Higher. Teaching practice is enhanced by the extensive use of a smartboard and a range of audio-visual resources for research purposes.
At Senior level we run a Young Enterprise business scheme every year - a programme which the students find both stimulating and challenging. Students have performed very well in this scheme and a number have received distinctions in the Strathclyde University Enterprise exam attached to the programme. We also participate in a number of other extra-curricular competitions including The Young Direct Marketing Awards and The Student Investor Programme.
