The Physical Education Department is based in the Sports Hall which was opened in 2009.  The department comprises three full-time subject specialists, two physical education assistants and a number of specialist coaches.  The department offers a wide range of sports and activities to pupils from Nursery to S6. Pupils in S5 and S6 are also offered the opportunity to study Higher Physical Education.

The department firmly believes physical education is vital for the pupils' physical, personal and social development.  Each pupil follows a structured programme of study, allowing them to gain new experiences and learn through a variety of teaching methods and styles.

As a department we place great value on competitive sport.  Our average Saturday morning consists of 10 hockey and 6 rugby teams playing fixtures throughout Scotland.  Pupils also have the opportunity to tour with our major sports; and in the summer of 2015 senior rugby and hockey players are scheduled to travel to South Africa for a two week tour.  The department also offers smaller tours for the younger teams.

Pupils are also afforded the opportunity to participate in outdoor educational activities, a variety of lunchtime and after school clubs and the numerous house activities throughout the year.
