Life for boarding pupils

Life for boarders at Lomond School is busy and rewarding.

The day is spent at school before returning to the house either at 3.25 pm or after extra-curricular activities. Boarders play a full part in the life of the school and are at the forefront of much that goes on in terms of sport, music, drama and expeditions.

Weekends see boarders participate in their own extra-curricular activities which range from cinema trips to sports fixtures, theatre outings, outdoor education and residential experiences. The pupils themselves generate many activities and are able to express ideas for the smooth running of the house through year group committees, food committee and an overall house committee. The Heads of House (S6 pupils) play an active role in promoting pupil involvement. ‘Pupil Voice’ is central to decision making and these committees make a difference to how the house runs.

Academic support is provided in the evening both by the resident staff and teachers from the school who provide tutorial support during the evening homework period.

We have all sorts of activities in the boarding house, and the house parents keep us busy. We normally go on trips, and we play football outside on the astroturf and basketball in the sports hall. It’s just exciting and fun.
