After a successful re-launch in 2016, we invite school pupils from Senior 3 (2016/17 academic year) upwards to compete in the above event. We are delighted to confirm that the course will, once again, take place on Loch Lomond and in Balloch Park, delivering an exhilarating and challenging course route and a beautiful and convenient location for all involved.
This year, the decision has been taken to run the whole event from Balloch Park, meaning less challenges in terms of logistics and more emphasis on creating an exciting event hub with participants, volunteers and spectators all in one place. (The 2016 re-launch started on the beach at Lomond Shores and finished in Balloch Park.)
To avoid the Scottish Schools Athletics competition on Saturday, the Lomond School Adventure Challenge will be held on Sunday 10 September 2017 between 9.00 am and 2.00 pm approximately.
The event consists of a 2km Canadian canoe leg up Loch Lomond, and a 4km mountain bike and 3.2km run within Balloch Park. Participants compete in teams of two and each team should consist of – either all male, all female or mixed. The race is continuous with the fastest time for each team category and male and female individual times winning a prize. This year, the competition is open to all pupils from S3 - S6 and bikes and canoes will be provided.
We are extremely grateful to the excellent team at Tiso, the Great Outdoor Specialists, who have agreed to sponsor the event once again and will be providing a range of fabulous prizes and giveaways.
In 2016 the prizewinners were from Hermitage Academy, Lomond School and St Thomas of Aquin’s. Teams should register by completing this simple Google Form https://goo.gl/forms/p9uMrqjDr51tGGra2.
