Junior School

Lomond Junior School is a warm and friendly place offering primary education to pupils aged 4-11, just 35 minutes from Glasgow, situated in Helensburgh.

Our philosophy at Lomond Junior School is simple. Happy children love to learn.

We believe every child can have the very best start to their education. Our dedicated and talented teaching staff deliver a rich and varied curriculum which ensures children are encouraged to love learning right from the start. Our progressive curriculum sits alongside a traditional approach where good manners and hard work are an expectation. However, life at Lomond is about so much more than the rigour you will find in our classrooms.

Our Guiding Principles are at the heart of all that we do, both in and out of the classroom as we endeavour to provide the broadest possible education for each child. Our children experience a rich curriculum which helps to develop character and confidence in a safe and familiar environment. Small class sizes not only enhance teaching and learning but promote strong supportive relationships between children and teachers, ensuring a personal and caring approach. It is these early positive experiences which determine the path our children will take and we aim to harness each child’s talents and strengths to ensure they become the very best that they can be.

Our Junior School has three distinct phases, each one carefully designed to ensure children can be supported effectively as they gain independence and prepare for the next step. Our Nursery is for children aged 3 to 5 years, Clarendon which houses our Junior 1 to Junior 5 children and Transitus, home to our older pupils in T1 and T2 (Primary 6 and 7), which is located in St Brides, our Senior School building.

We understand that family life can be hectic which is why we open our doors from 8am to 5.30pm each day. A vast extra-curricular programme is available to our pupils and this is further supported by an onsite After School Club which provides parents with peace of mind at the end of the school day.
