Outstanding Success for S6 Pupil Gabe with 15 US University Offers

Lomond School is celebrating an extraordinary achievement by S6 pupil Gabe, who has received offers from all 15 US universities to which he applied — a remarkable accomplishment by any measure.

Adding to this success, Gabe has also been named a semi-finalist for the highly prestigious Park Scholarships at North Carolina State University, progressing from thousands of applicants to a shortlist of just a few hundred. He will now move forward to the next stage of the highly competitive selection process.

Gabe’s achievements reflect his exceptional commitment, academic ability, and wide-ranging intellectual curiosity. Alongside his studies, he has pursued an impressive array of extracurricular interests, including achieving Eagle Scout status, beekeeping, and even skydiving, all while maintaining a clear and sustained passion for engineering. His enthusiasm and willingness to embrace opportunity have clearly resonated with universities across the United States.

Mrs Claire Chisholm, Principal of Lomond School, praised Gabe’s achievement, saying:

“Gabe’s success is truly exceptional and richly deserved. He is a young person of enormous drive, curiosity and integrity, and he exemplifies the very best of our school community. His achievements reflect not only his own dedication and talent, but also the strength of the educational pathways we offer. We are incredibly proud of him and excited to see where his journey leads.”

This outcome also highlights the strength and value of the IB Careers Programme alongside the HNC in Mechanical Engineering which Gabe studies. His success further reinforces the high regard in which universities hold the IB for developing motivated, capable, and distinctive learners.

Gabe’s mum, Deanna Dingman, expressed her pride, saying:

“We are unbelievably proud of Gabe and all that he has accomplished. He has worked so hard, followed his passions, and taken every opportunity with enthusiasm and determination. Seeing his efforts recognised in this way has been incredibly rewarding, and we are so grateful for the support and encouragement he has received throughout his time at school.”

The entire school community extends its warmest congratulations to Gabe and wishes him every success as he progresses to the next stage of the Park Scholarship selection process and prepares for the exciting opportunities ahead.
