Alistair joined the board in February 2018 and was elected Chair in November 2019. He is a current T1 parent and second time round having been a parent until 2008 as well. By trade Alistair is a commercial insurance broker and independent financial adviser having run his family business since 1988.

Rahim Taghizadegan

Member of the board of Governors

Rahim Taghizadegan is an Austrian economist, physicist, author and educational entrepreneur working in the direct intellectual tradition of the Austrian School. He studied physics, economics and sociology in Vienna and Lausanne, specialising in nuclear physics and complex systems.

For almost two decades, he has held teaching appointments at universities across Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, including WU Vienna, IMC Krems, the University of Liechtenstein, and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He is the author of more than fifteen books, including standard works on economics and the Austrian School, and a recipient of the Roland Baader Prize.

In 2006, he founded scholarium, an independent academic institution preserving and developing the Austrian School in its original interdisciplinary form that has been inspired by the Scottish enlightenment. He was also among the first economists to introduce Bitcoin into university teaching.

Dominic Fitzgerald

Dominic Fitzgerald was educated at Moray House Institute of Education, Edinburgh where he qualified with a Bachelor of Education Honours’ Degree. Dominic’s first teaching position was within a state school in Leicestershire before moving to the North East of England to take on a Director of Rugby role at King’s School, Tynemouth. From there Dominic returned to Scotland, working at The Glasgow Academy as Head of Physical Education and Games and Lomond School as Housemaster and Head of Boys’ Sport.

Dominic returned to England in 2013 to take up the position of Senior Master (Assistant Head) and Director of Sport Fulham School before moving on to become Senior Deputy Head at Homefield Preparatory School in Sutton, where he completed his National Professional Qualification for Headship. In 2020 Dominic took on the Headship of St. Andrew’s School, guiding them successfully through COVID, before implementing a merger with another local independent school to create a brand-new senior school in Surrey. Dominic served as Executive Head of Halstead St Andrew’s School last year, ensuring there was a smooth transition to the new school, before returning to Scotland to be closer to family and will be taking up Headship of Queen Victoria School, Dunblane in August 2025.

Dominic is currently involved in consultancy work, is looking to study for his Executive Coaching Qualification this year. Dominic has extensive experience of school governance and strategy as a Head and Deputy Head, he was also Chair of the Education Committee, was a member of the Strategic Committee and sat and Full Board at Rokeby School in Kingston upon Thames.

Daniel Werner

After completing his Master’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Münster, with a focus on economics and financial mathematics (2005–2011), Daniel began his career as a software developer, first as a Visual Basic programmer in Münster (2011–2013) and then as a C# programmer at Syniverse Technologies in Germany until 2015.

From 2016 to 2019, he worked abroad as a consultant on machine-learning applications in financial markets. From 2018 to 2021, he also served as Team Leader at Delta Engine GmbH, focusing on machine learning and robotics.

Since 2019, Daniel has been Founder and CEO of Fountainhead Walnuts LLC in Georgia, where he combines modern agriculture with robotics and emerging technologies. His career brings together advanced mathematical training, software engineering and entrepreneurship, supported by deep expertise in financial markets.
