After an impressive run of results on the road to the final, Helensburgh Lomond U16s delivered a performance of outstanding resilience and quality to defeat Morrisons Academy/Crieff & Strathearn 31–17 in a memorable Schools Bowl final at Murrayfield on Saturday 17 January 2026.
The squad showed remarkable composure on the big stage, matching Morrison’s physicality in a fiercely contested first half. Trailing at the interval, the team regrouped with determination and produced a thrilling second-half display, overturning a 14–5 deficit to secure a deserved 31–17 victory.
Commenting on the achievement, Lomond School Principal Claire Chisholm said:
“This was a tremendous display of teamwork, character, and determination from a very special group of young players. The pride felt across our school and wider community today is immense, and this success is a testament to the dedication of the players, coaches, and everyone who supports rugby at Lomond School.”
We congratulate the entire squad on their remarkable achievement, with special recognition for Lomond School pupils Ryan, Fraser, Ellis, Struan, and Tyler.
