Sadness at the passing of Lomond School’s founding Principal

The entire school community will be saddened to learn of the passing during the Christmas holiday of Mr David Arthur, MBE.

Mr Arthur was the first Principal of Lomond School from 1977 until 1986 and as such will always have a hugely important place in the hearts of the Lomond School family. Mr Arthur remained a strong supporter of the school in his retirement and was a frequent and welcome guest at School functions including Prizegivings and Carol Services. We were delighted to welcome him as recently as June 2018 as a guest of honour to the School’s 40th Anniversary Ball. His passing will have a strong resonance for those who were pupils at Lomond in the early days and of course for the wider Helensburgh community.

We wish to extend our condolences to Mr Arthur’s whole family circle.

A private family cremation will take place on Saturday 12 January followed by a service and celebration of Mr Arthur’s life in Helensburgh Parish Church at 10.30 a.m. The school will host the reception following the service.
