GB training for top gymnast Olivia

Transitus 1 pupil, Olivia K, is celebrating a fantastic accomplishment in gymnastics after being selected for a GB rhythmic gymnastics profiling trial.

Throughout 2019, Olivia attended a number of national workshops & training sessions in preparation for her selection. This involved her travelling across Scotland and attending intense training sessions.  She also claimed the bronze medal at the Scottish Open competition in September 2019. Olivia has been a member of WDGC for 3 1/2 years and after training in our general sessions was identified by their rhythmic coach Luisa to join the competitive squad in August 2018. Olivia has only been training in this discipline competitively for 1 year 4 months, making this achievement even more incredible! Olivia works incredibly hard along with her coach Luisa and other team mates. She trains 5 1/2 hours per week, often adding extra training each month working with other rhythmic clubs in Scotland.

Trials were held on 30th November in the National performance centre for British Gymnastics, Lilieshall, England. Olivia had to take part in a ballet session, body difficulties & apparatus session alongside some of the best gymnasts in the UK for her age group. If successful, Olivia would enter the Scottish Gymnastics performance pathway for rhythmic gymnastics and would be working towards the elite pathway in the sport.
