As the West of Scotland’s only boarding school, living and studying at Lomond School offers a truly unique experience, with unrivalled curriculum choice, for boys and girls from the UK and around the world.

Living at Lomond School as a boarder is an enriching experience that we truly believe provides a ‘home away from home’. With up to 60 boarders at any one time, Burnbrae House is small enough to truly provide a family feel and being home to boys and girls provides a unique opportunity for siblings to live together under one roof. With a balance of both international and UK boarders, all our pupils thrive in a truly international environment.

You can read in more detail about Burnbrae and life as a boarder in our Boarding Brochure and you can also hear from our outgoing Head of House, Marcus, in the video below.

Our boarders benefit from a great support structure with regular prep supported by teaching staff and an in-house culture which ensures a healthy balance of work and play. Our young people are determined and hard-working and new boarders often comment on how this environment has helped them to be the best version of themselves.

At Lomond School we look to the future, and our curriculum is no exception. Times are changing and we want to ensure that every young person in our school has a curriculum pathway that prepares them for life. We have embedded inquiry based learning and teaching approaches across the whole school encouraging both independent learning and a deep conceptual understanding of the topics being studied. Senior 5 pupils (sixth form) have the choice of two International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes – the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) with an HNC in Business – as well as our existing SQA courses. No other school is able to provide this choice of curriculum pathways.

Our Registrar, Jonathan Hewat, will be happy to arrange a zoom call to discuss individual circumstances. To progress your enquiry, please complete the form at the bottom of this page or call T: 01436 672 476 and our Registrar will be happy to help.
