A Natural Transition

Nursery is the first stage in a long and important journey. At Lomond School, our Nursery is an integral part of our school which makes the transition into Junior 1 the most seamless and natural pathway, rather than a daunting step.

Lomond School Nursery is housed within the Junior School, which allows children and parents to become familiar with the school environment and the caring and supportive staff who work here, right from the start.

Our children work with many of the Junior School and specialist teaching staff throughout their time in Nursery. This helps to develop strong and supportive relationships between staff and children, and parents can feel confident that their child is understood and cared for by people who know them well.

Our transition programme happens naturally and ensures that every child is eager to put on their blazer when August arrives. Nursery children are involved in lots of school events, such as assemblies and concerts and they take part in shared learning experiences with the older classes. Our Junior 1 teacher visits Nursery regularly and is a familiar face to all of the children. From February, our Nearly J1s begin visiting the Junior 1 class on a weekly basis. This is when they are introduced to their Junior 4 Buddy who will help them to settle in at the start of term.
