We are delighted to announce that, from August 2026, Mandarin will be introduced to the Lomond School curriculum and will be taught by Dr. Ziv Kan, marking an exciting expansion of our languages provision and opportunities for our pupils. This exciting development reflects our commitment to preparing learners for a truly global future, where linguistic confidence and cultural understanding are increasingly valuable.
Mandarin is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and offers pupils significant academic, cultural, and professional advantages. Learning Mandarin enhances cognitive skills such as memory, problem-solving, and attention to detail, while also deepening appreciation of Chinese culture, history, and global perspectives.
At Lomond School, Mandarin will be introduced progressively across all year groups, ensuring an engaging and age-appropriate learning journey. It will also be available as part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, providing students with the opportunity to continue their studies to an advanced level and gain a highly respected international qualification.
